Thee Oh Sees are the latest incarnation of songwriter, singer and guitarist John Dwyer’s ever-evolving pop-folk psychedelic group. Dwyer, who comes from Providence, RI, has been active in the San Francisco indie scene since the late 90s, working with various bands, including the Coachwhips, Pink & Brown New Music Releases, Yikes, its alive, and Swords & Sandals, among other and he formed OCS initially as a vehicle for the experimental instrumentals he produced in his home studio (which is an acronym for Orinoka Crash Suite, Orange County Sound, or whatever Dwyer decided it was on a given day). In the time OCS turned into a band and worked under the usual flood of names, especially when Oh Sees or Ohse, and finally condemned as Thee Oh Sees, with Dwyer New Music Releases on guitar and vocals, Brigid Dawson on vocals and tambourine, Petey on bass and Mike Shoun on drums (sometimes condemned as Petey! listed). Sounding a bit like the Mamas & the Papas with a serious bent garage blender, the band with the German label Tomlab and published under contract sucks blood running in 2007 and the Master’s Bedroom New Music Releases Is Worth Spending a Night In in 2008.
